Beginning each fall, Instructor Peer Coaching (IPC) is a two-semester program that pairs instructors from different colleges or departments to assess and improve teaching practices, with professional growth and development as the overall goal of the initiative.
Primary coaching focus areas include active learning, instructional technology, improving lecturing, providing and incorporating feedback, and classroom management. Throughout the two-semester coaching process, each instructor will set goals, create an action plan, implement practices based on that plan, and then review and reflect on ways to improve.
The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) will train and support peer groups as they engage in the peer coaching model. This process builds a culture that promotes teaching excellence.
Each instructor receives $125 per semester in professional development funds, disbursed after the fall and spring semesters, for a total of $250 per participant.
